The International Literacy Association (ILA) is a global advocacy and membership organization of more than 300,000 literacy educators, researchers, and experts across 75 countries. With over 60 years of experience, ILA has set the standard for how literacy is defined, taught, and evaluated.

An excellent starting point when searching for federal programs, statistics, and initiatives, with a nice sampling of publications available from the Department of Education, several of which can be viewed online and printed, or downloaded using Adobe Acrobat .pdf format for printing of a typeset-quality document. Also included are the department's budget, directories of offices and individuals, press releases, and a searchable ERIC database, 1991-1996.
