The Purdue Online Writing Lab (OWL) is an excellent source for all aspects of formatting your papers, from in-text citations to the list of works cited, in the most commonly used citation styles.  Be sure to check out the Sample Papers--they put all the rules into context for you.

The Excelsior Online Writing Lab (OWL) is also an excellent resource for all things related to citations, including paper formatting, in-text citations, and works cited pages. It also includes style guides for MLA and Chicago/Turabian. 

"Theater" or "Theatre"?

What's the right way to spell the word? The short answer is that it's spelled "theater" in the U.S. and "theatre" in England. But not everyone in the States follows that rule. Here in New York, we have the Public Theater and the Beacon Theatre. Many Americans use "theater" to refer to the physical place and "theatre" to refer to the art form.
