ENG 120: Visual Rhetorical Analysis and Ethnography Research

Rhetorical Analysis of a Cultural Artifact Assignment

For the Rhetorical Analysis of a Cultural Artifact assignment, students must select a discourse community and a cultural artifact relevant to that community. Remember, a cultural artifact is any object made, modified, or used by people.

The goal is to "determine values that are represented through associative artifacts, as these objects not only embody cultural values but also function as tools that shape how students see and understand themselves, how they interact and engage with communities, and why they have elected to build relationships with specific groups of people."

In the boxes below, you will find links to databases that will provide you access to images of some cultural artifacts as well as to databases for additional articles via Pace Library databases.
