Fall 2020 Library Operations Updates

Returning Books for Fall 2020

Returning Books for Fall 2020

As of November 19th, Library facilities are CLOSED.

Borrowing of print materials is not possible.

You can access our e-books using the "Quick Search" tab on the Library homepage

Borrowing Books

Users may visit their home campus Library to borrow materials from the Pace collections during regular library hours. Patrons have two options:

Option 1) Users are encouraged to request books in advance using the “Request” button within the Library Catalog, then just pick the item up at the front desk.

  • No need for you to go into the stacks to retrieve your books, we will get them for you, process them, and you can pick them up at the Front Desk.
  • Material requested for pickup will normally be available within one hour between the hours of 9AM - 5PM, Monday through Friday.
  • Items requested after 5PM will be available next business day.
  • You will receive an e-mail when your items are ready for pickup.
  • Items will be bagged and labeled with first initial and last name, and will be available for pickup at a table at the front desk of the library.
  • This short video demonstrates the Book Pickup Request process: https://youtu.be/6Ap3Ed0IKhE

Option 2) Patrons can come to the Library and retrieve books from the stacks themselves.

  • Patron would bring their items to the Front Desk and items will be checked out to the user with no physical contact made with the book by the library staff member.
  • Patron will be asked to hold up their Library Barcode or Pace ID for scanning through the Plexiglass barrier
  • Patron will be asked to hold up the book and open to the Book Barcode for scanning through the Plexiglass barrier

Requesting Books from other Pace Libraries

Patrons may also still request books from other Pace Library locations using the "Request" button within the Library Catalog.

  • Follow the same process described above to place your request for a book from another Pace campus Library
  • Books being shipped from other Pace campus Library locations will take 2 to 3 business days to arrive.
  • You will receive an e-mail when your items are ready
  • Pick up your items from the table located at the Library front desk.

Returning Books

All books should be returned in the book slot at the Library front desk or in the book drop outside the Library entrance.  All returned books will be quarantined for FOUR full days.

  • All library fines will be waived in Fall 2020.

Book Quarantine

In guidance with recent virus transmission research, ILLiad Interlibrary Loan books and ConnectNY books will be quarantined for FOUR DAYS before being lent to users.  PLEASE NOTE: This will lead to increased book delivery times.

Books requested for Pickup from your home campus Library, and books requested from other Pace Library locations (aka intra-campus loan) will be handled with minimal contact and in a safe manner by library staff.

ConnectNY and ILLiad Interlibrary Loan

Update 10/9: ConnectNY is up and running again!

ILLiad Interlibrary Loan services will be available for books, articles and other documents in Fall 2020.

  • Request articles, books, etc. that the Pace Library does not own through ILLiad, our interlibrary loan platform
  • Please note that while articles typically have a fast turnaround time, there may be delays due to staffing reductions and other restrictions in the lending institutions.
  • Also note there is a book quarantine period of 4 days that will be applied to every book received in the library before it is distributed to a user.

Laptops & Calculators

Laptops and calculators will be loaned to users and lending times will be customized to the patron's need

  • Please note, however, no overnight checkout will be permitted
  • Laptops and calculators will be handled with minimal contact and in a safe manner by library staff and will be disinfected upon return to the Library
