NURS 813: Advanced Nursing in Primary Health Care

This guide lists resources for finding public health and epidemiology related articles and statistics.

To get started:

  1. Review the assignment below or in your syllabus/Classes module
  2. Consider your chosen population and health topic. Visit the State, National, or International pages on the left side to locate appropriate datasets and statistics.
  3. Consider experimenting with ChatGPT to see what kinds of sources of data it generates in response to your health topic and population. For example, you might type in: data and information about opioid addiction among low-income Ohioans. Do not rely on ChatGPT but consider it a supplement to the resources in this guide.
     

Module 3 Assignment

Below is a basic description of your Module 3 assignment - See your syllabus for more detailed instructions!

Module 3:

Your team has identified a public health emergency and a related health condition.  Explore the available data to show the impact of that issue on a particular population; use the epidemiologic data to discuss the SDoH that places that population at particular risk.

  1. Select a public health issue
  2. Locate data sources that provide details about your public health issue. Provide an overview and specific health picture from the data.
  3. Create a table from the data that represents the trends you identified.
  4. Apply an epidemiologic model to your data and describe why it applies.
