Request Articles

When you find an article listed in a research database, and the article is not immediately available to read, use the Search for Item icon to search all of Pace's holdings (print and electronic) to see if we have full text.  If you get a message that says, "Sorry, no full text available," click the link that says "ILLiad New York and Pleasantville" to request a copy of the article.  You need to register for the ILLiad service in order to place a request.

Electronic PDFs of the full text take an average of 2 business days to arrive. You will be emailed a link back to the ILLiad form, and select "View/Download Electronically Received Articles" to get a link to the PDF.

Search Periodicals

Each database provides access to a unique group of publications, so search more than one in order to be comprehensive.

Sample Database Searches

The following are searches that could be run in any of the above databases:

  • "soil cleanup" OR "soil decontamination"
  • "climate change" AND "polar bears"
  • "climate change" AND econom* AND "united states"
  • "soil pollution" AND "health aspects"

Search tips:

  • Put quotation marks around phrases--searches those two or more words together in that order.  e.g. "climate change"
  • An asterisk (Shift+8 on your keyboard) at the end of a set of letters tells the catalog or database to search any alternate ending.

(Example:  Econom* asks the catalog/database to search for:  economy, economic, economics, economies, economical, etc.)

  • Parentheses:  Put parentheses around your OR phrases. e.g. ethics AND ("life span extension" or "life extension") tells the catalog or database to search for ethics with EITHER "life span extension" OR with "life extension"
