Research Department: Scholarly Communication Services

Open Educational Resources

As members of the University's OER committee, we plan to promote and increase overall interest in OER services continually. Through workshops and departmental presentations, SCS will serve as a guiding resource for faculty, students, and staff, providing comprehensive support on copyright policies and creative commons licensing.

By utilizing their intellectual property for academic research, publications, teaching, and other educational activities, we aim to ensure that individuals are well-informed and equipped with the necessary knowledge to effectively navigate copyright regulations and maximize the benefits of creative commons licensing.

An instrumental approach to promoting OER adoption within our university is through the implementation of a digital badging program tailored explicitly for professors. The badge serves as an online representation of a credential or learning outcome, providing real-time verification. Each digital badge is accompanied by an image and metadata that effectively communicate its significance and the supporting evidence submitted to earn it.

This innovative program offers a tangible and visually appealing way to showcase achievements and highlight the valuable contributions made by our professors in embracing and incorporating OER into their teaching practices.
