Course Information

The course takes about 3-4 hours to complete and can be done asynchronously online over a two-week period.

Earning Criteria

  • Identifying, Finding, and Adopting OER: This module will consist of PDF documents and videos the faculty member will have to consult and then complete an assessment. Learning outcomes include: the difference between free-to-access, public domain, and open licensing rights; formats and types of OER; becoming familiar with OER search platforms; evaluating the quality or the OER.
  • Customizing and Integrating OER: This module will consist of PDF documents and videos the faculty member will have to consult and then complete an assessment. Learning outcomes include: How to edit an OER; Demonstrate how to integrate OER content from into a Learning Management System or other learning environment.
  • Creating, Licensing, and Publishing: This will consist of PDF documents and videos the faculty member will have to consult and then complete an assessment. Learning outcomes include: How to distinguish the various open licenses; Determine the appropriate license for OER needs; Applying a license to one's work; Become familiar with Pace's Digital Commons and other open repositories to determine publishing options.
