Pace Library's Collection Development Policy

Purpose
This collection development policy guides the library’s acquisition of materials directly supporting the university’s academic priorities in teaching and research. The policy focuses on building comprehensive local collections in core subject areas while allowing flexibility to adapt as programs evolve.

Review Process
This document is not meant to be exhaustive. The Head of Library Collections and the Heads of Research and Circulation Services, with consultation from the University Librarian and Library Directors, will review this collection development policy annually to ensure it continues to meet the community’s needs. User feedback, technological developments, curriculum changes, and collection gaps will be considered during the review process to determine if revisions are required.

Policy Updates
Any revisions will be communicated to library staff and reflected in collection practices for the coming year. This regular evaluation enables the policy to adapt alongside changes to university programs and initiatives.

Goal
The goal is to maintain a document that provides relevant guidance for building diverse and inclusive local collections tailored to enable excellence in the university’s key areas of study and scholarship.
