Pace Library's Collection Development Policy

The library’s expansive view of “collections” includes print and multimedia formats,  purchased or licensed e-resources, digitized content, and other materials that advance research, teaching, and learning.

Collection development activities emphasize resources designed to meet users’ needs, take advantage of emerging acquisition models, and maintain a sustainable, holistic, and flexible collection within allocated budgets. The library utilizes data-driven evaluation to inform ongoing improvements to the collections and their support of learning and research needs.

The library upholds fundamental intellectual freedom, privacy, and access principles that enable academic libraries to serve their communities. Guided by the American Library Association’s Foundational Principles of Intellectual Freedom, the Library develops diverse and inclusive collections that uphold users’ rights to access a broad range of viewpoints by adhering to the ALA’s Library Bill of Rights, Freedom to Read Statement, and Intellectual Freedom Statement.

The Library protects users’ privacy and records confidentiality following the American Library Association’s Code of Ethics and New York State law while complying with appropriate information requests under the USA PATRIOT Act.
