Library Assessment Plan

Assessment of resources, services, spaces, and programs

Faculty & Staff Development

Members of the I.S. Team facilitate sessions and workshops in a variety of regularly offered faculty and staff development programs at the University, including the following:

  • As part of the Teaching Effectively Online seminar hosted by the Faculty Center and Pace Online twice each year, Module 3 consists of "Library Resources & Services." Module objectives are based on the “Library Resources for Teaching” Guide.
  • New Adjunct Orientation webinars hosted by the Faculty Center, Library resources & services are presented by an instruction librarian
  • New Full-time Faculty Orientation hosted by the Faculty Center, facilitated through both in-person and online modules, the Library content is facilitated by an instruction librarian
  • Teaching Techniques Workshop, hosted by the Faculty Center - instruction librarians have offered sessions on "Integrating Information Literacy and Research Skills in a Course," as well as "The Use of Generative AI in Teaching"
  • Since 2022, the Virtual Resources Fair hosted by Educational Media and ITS twice each year has included a variety of Librarian hosted sessions:
    • “Integrating Library Resources & Services in Your Teaching” has been offered every semester since the Fair began in 2022
    • Various generative AI sessions, including sessions on creating AI policies, writing effective prompts, teaching with gen AI, ethical use of gen AI, and evaluating the results of a gen AI search have been facilitated by members of the I.S. Team since 2023
  • Employee Development Day – hosted by Human Resources on an annual basis, Library sessions are designed and facilitated to introduce staff and faculty to Library resources and services related to the year’s theme
  • Wellness/Wellbeing Fairs – hosted each spring by the Pace Wellness Committee, Library sessions focus on topics such as health information literacy and using Library resources and services for staff and faculty personal use

Many of these faculty and staff development programs are facilitated in partnership with other departments at the University and the I.S. Team has not always had access to attendance information or to surveys that may have been facilitated by the lead office for each program. Starting in 2022, the I.S. Team began tracking attendance more closely for our sessions in these programs, and for programs we offer independently. In the future, the I.S. Team plans to create and distribute follow-up surveys to attendees of all faculty and staff development sessions we facilitate, even if we are not the lead office on a program.
