Interlibrary Loan

The Interlibrary Loan (ILL) department of the Pace University Library serves as a bridge connecting our academic community to resources beyond our local collections. Interlibrary loan facilitates access to materials from libraries worldwide, ensuring that research, teaching, and learning endeavors are not constrained by the boundaries of our physical and digital holdings. The department's operations span both Westchester County and Lower Manhattan campuses, providing seamless resource sharing services that enhance the academic experience for faculty, students, and staff.

The ILL department operates within a framework of reciprocal lending agreements and consortium partnerships, leveraging technology and established protocols to deliver materials efficiently and cost-effectively. This collaborative approach ensures that not only does the Pace Library expand the Pace University community’s access to resources, but also provides access to its collections in response to requests from the larger community of Library users, statewide, nationwide, and even worldwide.

The department's commitment to excellence encompasses not only the timely delivery of requested materials but also adherence to copyright compliance, licensing agreements, and professional standards established by the American Library Association's Interlibrary Loan Code for the United States which facilitates the requesting of materials and the provision of loans or copies to others.

ILL Mission and Service Philosophy

The Interlibrary Loan department's mission aligns directly with Pace University Library's commitment to providing comprehensive access to information resources that support the diverse academic programs across the Dyson College of Arts & Sciences, School of Education, Lubin School of Business, Seidenberg School of Computer Science and Information Systems, Sands College of Performing Arts, and the College of Health Professions.

Our service philosophy emphasizes user-centered access, recognizing that scholarly inquiry often requires materials beyond any single institution's capacity to collect. The department serves as a critical component in the library's strategy to provide equitable access to information, ensuring that research limitations are minimized regardless of format, age, or geographic location of needed materials.
