Pace Library's Collection Development Policy

The library collects materials in other formats, in addition to books, ebooks, and databases, that support teaching, learning, and research at the university.

Journals and Periodicals
In print and electronic access, scholarly, professional, academic, and general interest journal and magazine subscriptions are selected to complement the disciplines and programs offered. Faculty recommendations are prioritized. Decisions consider cost, relevance, and usage.

Microfilm

The microfilm collection consists of newspapers, journals, archives, and other valuable materials for research and preservation purposes. Selections are made based on their relevance, uniqueness, and potential for long-term use in scholarly work.

Media
The media collection provides access to audio and visual materials like music and film recordings. Priority is given to titles that directly supplement classroom instruction and faculty research. Media is acquired through both purchase and streaming licensing arrangements when possible.

Datasets and Digital Archives
Digital research data, numeric data, report archives from government agencies, data files, and computational reference sources are acquired to aid researchers. Datasets must include sufficient description and documentation and meet technical standards for access and preservation.

Institutional Repository
The Digital Commons repository showcases faculty and student scholarships, creative works, campus publications, and materials documenting university history. Repository development policy defines submission eligibility, quality guidelines, metadata requirements, and responsible parties.
